GP Pharm and the Biomed Division of Leitat show the results of their joint investigation in the inte

Under the umbrella of a CDTI project (Centre for the Industrial and Technological Development) from the Spanish Industry Ministry, GP Pharm, the pharmaceutical company of the Lipotec Group, in collaboration with the Leitat’s Biomed Division has conducted comparative efficacy studies between a new formulation of Docetaxel developed by GP Pharm and the original product Taxotere® in a model for ovarian cancer. The results show that this new GP Pharm’s formulation has a similar or even superior antitumoral effect to Taxotere®’s. This formulation will follow then the standard development process of a new drug product, starting its clinical phase. GP Pharm presented these results at the conference “Towards Personalizad Cancer Medicine” organised by the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS), Talència and la Obra Social de "la Caixa" that was held in Barcelona from May the 19th to 21st 2010. It was notorius the presence of Dr. Josep Baselga (Vall d’Hebron Institut d’Oncologia de Barcelona), el Dr. Joan Massagué (Sloan-Kettering Institute de Nueva York and Institut de Recerca Biomèdica de Barcelona), and Dr. Manuel Perucho (Institut de Medicina Predictiva i Personalitzada del Càncer de Barcelona and Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute) as part of the organizing committee. The conference counted with the presence of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 1989. J. Michael Bishop giving the opening conference Genome and Cancer Therapy.
