GP-Pharm builds a new laboratory for the Development of new pharmaceutical drug products
26-11-2009

The spanish biotechnological company GP-Pharm invested in the build of a new analytical laboratory for development activities which is provided with the most advanced technology for the analysis and characterization of drug delivery systems (liposomes and microspheres) in liquid and lyophilized forms.

The new laboratory will allow the improvement of early stages in pharmaceutical development where the capability of analysis takes special value for the obtainment of new drug products. Moreover, this laboratory will be able to provide validated analytical methods and the analysis of the validation batches for new developed drugs products.

The main techniques available in this laboratory are:

-         Photon Correlation Spectroscopy for particle size distribution in the submicron range.

-         Laser Doppler Anemometry for Z-potencial determination.

-         Laser Diffraction Spectroscopy for particle size distribution in the micron range.

-         High-Performance Liquid Chromatography with diode array and UV detection for the evaluation of incorporation and stability of active ingredients.

-         Volumetric and Coulometric Karl Fisher for the determination of water content in lyophilized forms and non aqueous products.

The laboratory complies with Quality Assurance requirements and it is currently certified as a GMP laboratory. In next months, local authorities will inspect the new facilitate in order to obtain the GLP certification
